By default, in Final Cut Pro 7, when moving frame by frame we do hear the sound of each corresponding frame and that whether we are in the timeline or the viewer (to see our rushes). So in case that does annoy us we can de-activate this default behaviour, either by:

going to View and select Audio scrubbing;

OR pressing shift + s, which is the shortcut for audio scrubbing.

Both also work if we want to put it back again, as it is by default.
Remark: we can only hear the corresponding sound of the frame we are viewing (where the position locator is), not the frame before or after.
